Oris expands sustainable lineup with new burgundy Big Crown Pointer Date

Swiss watchmaker Oris has expanded its sustainability-focused collaboration with Cervo Volante through the release of a new 40mm Big Crown Pointer Date model. The timepiece features a burgundy dial inspired by the autumn foliage near the Oris factory in Hölstein.

As part of the brand’s “Change for the Better” campaign, the watch is paired with a dark brown deer hide strap sourced from Cervo Volante. This partnership utilizes leather from wild red deer culled in Switzerland to prevent overpopulation and protect alpine forest ecosystems. The leather is processed at one of the country’s remaining vegetable tanneries.

The watch is housed in a 40mm stainless steel case with a fluted bezel, an oversized screw-down crown, and a double-domed sapphire crystal. It is powered by the Oris 754 calibre, an automatic movement based on the Sellita SW 200-1 architecture. The design includes cathedral-shaped hands and stylized Arabic numerals treated with Super-LumiNova for legibility.
