Oristano faces disputes over Torre Grande and Fenosu projects

In Oristano, local political and administrative tensions are rising regarding two separate development projects.

Giancarlo Mameli, a provincial coordinator for the Sardegna al centro 20Venti movement, has addressed inquiries regarding his interest in managing the Torre Grande large events area. Mameli clarified that his involvement is strictly professional as an entrepreneur. Alongside Sea Scout, he has proposed a project focused on inclusive tourism and social services, specifically targeting individuals with physical or mental disabilities.

Separately, the Municipality of Oristano is evaluating a potential legal appeal to block a large-scale energy storage project in the Fenosu countryside. The project, proposed by Milan-based Webess Oristano Srl, involves 44 large batteries with a capacity of 160.745 MW. Although the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security approved expropriations in July, the municipality, the Sardinia Region, and local administrators have expressed opposition to the installation.
