Oristano hosts event exploring Nobuyoshi Araki’s photography and kinbaku
The “Secret Pages” exhibition, dedicated to the work of Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki, will conclude with a special event at the Pinacoteca Carlo Contini in Oristano on October 10. Part of the 28th Dromos Festival, the event titled “L’arte legata. La pratica del kinbaku nella poetica di Araki” will explore the relationship between photography, eroticism, and the Japanese tradition of kinbaku.
Coordinated by journalist Patrizia Mocci, the discussion will feature art historian and curator Sonia Borsato, collector Pietro Molinas Balata—whose personal collection provided the 122 photographs on display—writer Luca Scarlini, and performer Marco Carrus. The debate aims to look beyond provocative imagery to examine themes of desire, intimacy, vulnerability, and the dynamics of power and ritual.
The evening will include a live demonstration of shibari/kinbaku by Marks and Jasmine from the Legàmi Cagliari project, followed by a musical selection by Orinoco Dave. The exhibition remains open to the public until October 17.
