Alghero political crisis intensifies over Raffaella Sanna

Political tensions in Alghero have escalated following a move by the Democratic Party (PD) to replace Culture and Public Education Councilor Raffaella Sanna. Opposition leaders from the center-right coalition have condemned the decision, describing it as a “retaliation” and a “settling of scores” driven by internal party conflicts rather than merit.

Opposition group leaders, including representatives from Fratelli d’Italia, Forza Italia, Lega, and others, accused the PD leadership of attempting to silence Sanna after she reported instances of verbal aggression and political mobbing. They characterized the attempt to replace her with Gabriella Esposito as an “eviction via WhatsApp” that ignores her professional competence.

In contrast, the Europa Verde circle in Alghero recently hosted a public meeting with Sanna to discuss her ongoing projects, including digital transition, museum valorization, and youth policies, signaling continued support for her administrative work despite the internal party pressure.
