Orix Buffaloes manager Mamoru Kishida to remain for next season
Orix Buffaloes manager Mamoru Kishida will remain in his position for the upcoming season. Following a difficult year that saw the team finish in the bottom tier of the Pacific League, the club has confirmed Kishida will lead the team into his third year of management.
To address challenges such as frequent player injuries and performance consistency, Kishida has announced plans to integrate high-tech equipment and data analysis. He emphasized the importance of “visualizing” player performance through numerical data rather than relying solely on subjective experience.
Kishida has requested the club invest in hardware, including force plates to measure ground reaction forces, to improve performance and aid in injury prevention. Data collection is expected to begin during autumn training starting October 10. Additionally, the club has implemented mental health support for players following the recent passing of rookie catcher Shikira Nogami.
