Orkiestra Polskiego Radia inaugurates new season in Warsaw

The Orkiestra Polskiego Radia (OPRW) has inaugurated its new season in Warsaw with a series of performances. Under the artistic leadership of new artistic director Bassam Akik, the orchestra performed a program featuring contemporary music and classical symphonic works.

Key highlights of the season opening included a performance of Agata Zubel’s ‘In the Shade of an Unshed Tear’, a piece previously performed in the United States and France but marking a significant presentation in this context. Additionally, Belarusian cellist Ivan Karizna performed the Cello Concerto in B minor, showcasing his expressive collaboration with the ensemble.

In a separate seasonal initiative, the ‘Alfabet Orkiestry’ series continues at the Witold Lutosławski Studio of Polish Radio. This cycle includes family-oriented musical storytelling inspired by Felix Mendelssohn, designed to engage younger audiences through music and accompanying workshops.
