Orkoien proposal targets 100 affordable homes on former SAREB land

In Orkoien, EH Bildu is proposing a modification to the Urbanism Commission to designate a plot of land formerly owned by the ‘bad bank’ SAREB for protected housing. The 20,780-square-meter site, known as Cruz Blanca Residencial, was transferred free of charge to the City Council following efforts by the political group to prevent the land from being sold online.

The initiative aims to build over 100 affordable public rental homes and community facilities, specifically targeting vulnerable groups such as youth, large families, and the elderly. This project is part of a broader municipal strategy that includes a plan to build 2,000 new homes in the Playa Auzalar sector, half of which are intended to be protected housing.
