Orlando Amstel Arena to host South Africa vs Kenya AFCON qualifier

Bafana Bafana Africa Cup of Nations Pitso Mosimane Benni McCarthy AFCON qualifiers

The South African Football Association has confirmed that the Orlando Amstel Arena in Soweto will host the first of two consecutive 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches between South Africa and Kenya. The match is scheduled for Friday, 13 November 2026, with a kick-off time of 18:00.

Following the home fixture, the teams will travel to Nairobi for the second match on Tuesday, 17 November 2026. The series features a notable coaching matchup, as Kenya’s head coach Benni McCarthy will face his home country for the first time since taking the position. He will compete against South Africa’s Pitso Mosimane.

South Africa currently leads Group D after winning two qualifying matches in September 2026, defeating Guinea 2-1 and Eritrea 5-0. Recent performances, including a 1-0 victory over Egypt, have contributed to Bafana Bafana rising to 48th in the FIFA World Rankings and 10th on the continental list.
