Orlando Approves $61 Million Event Center Near Camping World Stadium

Orlando’s City Council approved the construction of a new event center adjacent to the Camping World Stadium. The $61 million project will cover roughly 13,000 sqm (140,000 sq ft) on a city‑block on West Church Street, replacing an old church on the site. The center is part of a broader $400 million revitalization plan funded by the Tourist Development Tax, which aims to attract larger national and international sports, cultural and corporate events. Officials say the facility will boost the local economy, create jobs and increase year‑round visitor traffic, although some residents raised concerns about traffic congestion and parking.

The revitalization also includes upgrades to the stadium itself, intended to improve its competitiveness for major events. Community input highlighted worries over increased traffic and parking, but the project received the necessary approvals to move forward.
