Orlando faces intense heat advisory and thunderstorms
The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Central Florida, including the Orlando area, where heat index values are expected to reach between 108 and 112 degrees. The advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., impacting major tourist destinations such as Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort.
In addition to extreme heat, meteorologists forecast scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. There is a 60% chance of heavy rain and storms, with the probability increasing to 70% through Thursday. Some storms may produce strong winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning. Residents and visitors are advised to stay hydrated and monitor for signs of heat exhaustion, such as nausea or light-headedness.
