Orlando Gill signs five-year contract with LOSC Lille

Paraguayan goalkeeper Orlando Gill has signed a five-year contract with the French club LOSC Lille. The 26-year-old, standing 1.99 meters tall, arrives to compete for the starting position with Berke Özer.

During his official presentation, Gill addressed a past confrontation with French star Kylian Mbappé during a World Cup match in Philadelphia. Following a tense exchange where Gill threw a ball toward the attacker, the goalkeeper explained that his competitive nature had caused him to act without thinking.

Gill noted that he has since moved past the incident and has even spoken with Kylian’s brother, Ethan Mbappé, who is a teammate at Lille. Gill expressed respect for both brothers, describing them as great professionals. Regarding the potential pressure from French supporters, Gill stated he is prepared to manage the atmosphere of playing in a major club.
