Orlando hosts Wheelchair Tennis World Team Cup

The Wheelchair Tennis World Team Cup is being held this week at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. This marks the first time since 1999 that the United States has hosted this event, which is considered the wheelchair equivalent of the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup.

The competition features 11 men's teams, 11 women's teams, and eight quad category teams. Top-ranked players, including Tokito Oda, Yui Kamiji, and Niels Vink, are participating to represent their nations. This year's tournament introduces a new knockout format to replace the previous round-robin structure.

Participation in the 2026 World Team Cup serves as a key eligibility criterion for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games, alongside world ranking requirements. The event follows regional qualifying stages held in Italy, Morocco, Peru, and Sri Lanka.
