Orlando International Airport ranks seventh busiest amid fire‑fighter training drill

Orlando International Airport (MCO) was ranked the seventh‑busiest airport in the United States for 2025, handling 57,675,573 passengers, up from 57,311,628 in 2024. The airport added nonstop routes to Munich, Madrid and Paris and remains the busiest in Florida, ranking 25th globally. Airport officials, including Greater Orlando Aviation Authority CEO Lance Lyttle, highlighted plans to expand Terminal C, add 8,000 parking spaces by 2030, and develop an aircraft observation park slated for completion in 2036.

On July 29, the airport conducted an Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) training exercise from 8:30 pm to 10:30 pm. Smoke and simulated fire were visible at the ARFF Training Facility, but officials said operations would not be affected. The drill fulfills an FAA‑required emergency‑equipment exercise.

These developments underscore MCO’s growing passenger traffic and ongoing infrastructure upgrades while ensuring safety readiness through regular training.
