Orlando Pirates advance to CAF Champions League group stages

Orlando Pirates have secured their place in the CAF Champions League group stages following a 5-0 aggregate victory over Namibian champions African Stars. Following the exit of Mamelodi Sundowns, the Buccaneers will be the sole South African representative in the competition.

The group stage opponents for Orlando Pirates are expected to be confirmed on October 28. The competition features several prominent African clubs, including Egypt’s Pyramids FC and Zamalek, Tunisia’s Espérance de Tunis, and Morocco’s RS Berkane. The group stages are scheduled to commence in late November.

In domestic news, Orlando Pirates are preparing for a Carling Knockout Cup last-16 match against Milford FC on October 27. The squad may receive a significant boost with the expected returns of winger Oswin Appollis and defender Nkosinathi Sibisi, both of whom missed the recent fixture against African Stars.
