Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns to face off in MTN8 final

MTN8 final South African soccer Orlando Pirates Mamelodi Sundowns Premier Soccer League

Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns are set to face each other in the MTN8 final at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, 10 October. The match carries a R10 million prize and significant psychological weight for the ongoing Betway Premiership title race, where Sundowns currently holds a one-point lead over Pirates.

Orlando Pirates are aiming for a record fifth consecutive MTN8 title. The squad faces fitness concerns, with midfielder Thalente Mbatha and forward Evidence Makgopa potentially returning from injury, while captain Nkosinathi Sibisi is also being monitored for fitness.

Mamelodi Sundowns, who have won the MTN8 only once in the last 18 years, seek to overcome a recent trend of losing to Pirates in cup finals. The match is expected to be a sold-out event, with live coverage scheduled on SABC 1 and SuperSport channels.
