Orlando Pirates pursue DStv Premiership title and CAF progress

Orlando Pirates are currently navigating a critical phase of the DStv Premiership season. The defending champions are attempting to extend an unbeaten run and close a seven-point gap on league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, aided by having three games in hand.

On the continental stage, Pirates recently secured a 4-1 aggregate victory against La Cure Waves FC to advance to the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League, where they are scheduled to face Africa Stars.

Despite their success, head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has expressed concern regarding a shortage of depth at the right-back position. Following the departures of several players, including Deano Van Rooyen, the squad currently relies heavily on Kamogelo Sebelebele. Ouaddou noted that while central defenders or returning players like Gamphani Lungu could provide temporary coverage, the club may need to seek long-term solutions to maintain their attacking style of play across multiple competitions.
