Orlando Pirates Football Club has confirmed the departure of defender Deano van Rooyen following a mutual agreement between the player and the club. The decision was reached after open discussions, with both parties agreeing that the timing is appropriate for the player to start a new chapter in his professional career.

Van Rooyen, 29, joined the Buccaneers from Stellenbosch FC ahead of the 2024/25 season. During his tenure in Soweto, he made 51 appearances across all competitions, contributing one goal and one assist. The club praised his professionalism and consistency, noting his ability to perform whether starting or coming off the bench.
