Orlando theme parks face extreme heat as Volcano Bay Nights concludes
Orlando is currently experiencing a prolonged period of extreme heat, with Central Florida under a heat advisory for seven consecutive days. The heat index is expected to reach between 105 and 109 degrees due to high humidity, posing risks of heat-related illness for those spending extended time outdoors at local theme parks.
In response to the intense summer conditions, Universal Orlando’s Volcano Bay Nights event is concluding its 2026 season this week. The limited-capacity, after-hours event, which began in May, allows guests to visit the water park after sunset to avoid the daytime heat. The final date for the event is Friday, August 21. The program features shorter wait times for major attractions, character meet-and-greets, and live entertainment.
