Marine Le Pen launches 2027 presidential campaign in Orléans

Marine Le Pen officially launched her campaign for the 2027 French presidential election during a National Rally (RN) congress in Orléans. The event, themed around “renaissance,” focused on security and national recovery. Le Pen was joined by Éric Ciotti and presented Jordan Bardella, who was re-elected as party president, as her intended future Prime Minister.

The campaign launch took place amid significant political tension and large-scale demonstrations. Opponents of the National Rally, including trade union leaders and left-wing politicians, organized counter-protests in Orléans to denounce racism and fascism. While local authorities estimated between 11,000 and 13,000 participants, organizers claimed the crowd reached up to 26,000 people. The demonstrations were reported to have remained largely peaceful despite a massive security presence.

To manage the crowds and prevent clashes, approximately 3,000 law enforcement officers were deployed, and local authorities implemented a temporary curfew for children under 15 during the weekend. Polling data indicates a shifting political landscape, with Le Pen leading in several scenarios for the 2027 election, while Jean-Luc Mélenchon is projected to advance to the second round in analyzed scenarios.
