Orlen faces market scrutiny amid potential PGZ acquisition rumors

Orlen is facing significant market attention following reports of a potential minority stake acquisition in Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ). The rumored transaction could cost the energy giant between 20 and 22 billion PLN. While investors have reacted calmly to these unconfirmed reports, the move could potentially utilize Orlen's substantial recent profits, which reached 15.7 billion PLN in the first half of 2026.

On the stock market, Orlen shares have been consolidating within a range of approximately 145 to 157 PLN. Although the stock recently hit a temporary historical maximum above 157 PLN, it failed to maintain that level. Analysts are closely watching whether the company can achieve a permanent breakout above the 157 PLN resistance level, which would signal a stronger upward trend. Fundamental factors, including attractive dividends and rising oil prices due to geopolitical tensions between the USA and Iran, continue to influence investor sentiment.
