ORLEN secures three-year oil supply deal with Equinor

ORLEN Group has signed a three-year agreement with the Norwegian company Equinor for the supply of crude oil from the Johan Sverdrup field on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The contract is set to begin in September and features flexible delivery volumes ranging from approximately 5 million to over 9 million tonnes annually.

At its maximum capacity, the agreement will cover up to one-quarter of ORLEN’s total annual crude oil requirements. The supplied oil is intended for ORLEN’s refineries located in Poland, the Czech Republic, and Lithuania. The deal aims to enhance energy security and supply stability in Central and Eastern Europe by increasing the share of predictable oil from Norway amidst global market volatility.

ORLEN President Ireneusz Fąfara noted that the agreement is a response to global market instability, while Equinor’s Executive Vice President Irene Rummelhoff highlighted the role of the Norwegian Continental Shelf in strengthening European energy security. The contract also allows for the potential supply of other crude grades from the Norwegian shelf.
