Czech Republic emergency services respond to multiple fires and accidents
Various emergency services across the Czech Republic reported multiple incidents during a recent long weekend. In Trutnov, firefighters rescued two people via ladders from a burning two-story hostel, with damages estimated at three million CZK.
In the Liberec region, emergency responders handled over seventy calls, including eight fires and six traffic accidents, as well as the rescue of a paraglider stuck in trees. Meanwhile, a cyclist injured in difficult terrain on Brumov required transport via an all-terrain vehicle.
Other notable incidents included the discovery of World War II-era artillery ammunition near the Březová dam in Karlovy Vary and a serious collision between two trucks on the D5 highway near Mýto, which resulted in a Polish driver being airlifted to a hospital with severe injuries. Additionally, a large-scale tactical exercise involving approximately 200 personnel is scheduled for the Orlické Mountains to practice forest fire response.
