Orlin Atanasov enters race for Bulgarian Basketball Federation presidency

Orlin Atanasov has officially entered the race for the presidency of the Bulgarian Basketball Federation. His candidacy was formally submitted by the National Basketball League member Politehnica (Dupnitsa).

Atanasov has secured support from six additional clubs, including CSKA, Lokomotiv Gorna Oryahovitsa, Hebar, Mix, Rogosh, and Akuli (Shabla). His campaign focuses on supporting basketball centers, developing coaches, and increasing the sport's popularity through improved cooperation between the federation and clubs, as well as securing additional funding.

Atanasov criticized recent decisions by the federation's management board, claiming they disenfranchised dozens of clubs. He intends to present his development concept, titled ‘The Face of the Game’, and his full team in the near future. The presidential elections are scheduled for October 5, 2026, following the federation's rejection of a request to hold an extraordinary general assembly in May.
