ORMAS opens first pop-up store in New Delhi to promote Odisha handlooms
The Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS), operating under the Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department, has launched its first pop-up store in New Delhi. Located at DLF Avenue in Saket, the store is scheduled to operate for one month, from August 11 to September 10.
Inaugurated by Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, the initiative aims to connect rural producers from Odisha with consumers in the national capital. The store features over 30 varieties of handloom and handicraft products sourced from 14 districts of the state.
Featured items include Sambalpuri Ikat and silk sarees, Kotpad, Pattachitra, Habaspuri, and Khandua Pata sarees, as well as Tussar silk. The collection also showcases traditional Sambalpuri and Dhokra jewellery. The project is intended to enhance brand visibility and create direct market linkages for weavers, artisans, and community-based organisations to support their livelihoods.
