OSCyL to perform 17 concerts in Castilla y León social centers
The Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León (OSCyL) is launching the thirteenth edition of its Maratón Social Musical from October 5 to October 8, 2026. This initiative, promoted by the Junta de Castilla y León, aims to bring music to individuals who face barriers to accessing traditional cultural venues.
During the four-day event, 14 chamber music groups from the orchestra will perform 17 concerts across the region. The performances are scheduled for various social and healthcare facilities, including hospitals, elderly residences, special education schools, and centers for people with intellectual disabilities. This autumn program follows a series of 19 concerts held in January, bringing the total for the year to over 35 social performances.
The program includes diverse musical activities, such as a bassoon workshop in Valladolid and various quintet performances in cities like Ávila, Ponferrada, Segovia, Soria, and Salamanca. The project is a collaborative effort involving the regional departments of Culture, Tourism and Sport, Health and Social Welfare, and Education, utilizing music as a tool for social cohesion and territorial integration.
