Orquestra Filarmônica de Goiás brings classical music to public schools

The Orquestra Filarmônica de Goiás is conducting a series of concerts in public schools across Goiânia and Aparecida de Goiânia to celebrate Children's Day. Running from October 6 to October 9, the 'Concertos nas Escolas' project features chamber groups, including quartets and quintets, performing a repertoire of classical works, film soundtracks, and orchestral versions of popular music.

Artistic Director Neil Thomson stated that the initiative aims to bring classical music into the daily lives of students and potentially inspire new musical talent. The program includes interactive sessions where musicians discuss instruments and the inner workings of an orchestra with children and adolescents.
