Orquestra Meninas e Meninos da Alegria debuts new tour in Recife

The Orquestra Meninas e Meninos da Alegria is set to debut its third tour, titled ‘Pernambuco dança assim’, at the Teatro do Parque in Recife on Sunday, August 16, 2026. This marks the first time the orchestra, composed of young musicians from Glória do Goitá, will launch a tour from a theater in the state capital.

Directed artistically by Clóvis Pereira Filho and scenically by Marcello Henrique, the performance integrates music, theater, and dance. The narrative follows a traveler exploring the cultural diversity of Pernambuco, navigating a symbolic rivalry between Carnival and São João. The repertoire features works by iconic artists such as Luiz Gonzaga, Alceu Valença, and Dominguinhos, showcasing rhythms including frevo, forró, ciranda, xaxado, and maracatu.

Created in 2022 by the NGO Giral, the orchestra currently includes 35 young people aged 10 to 21. Following successful tours through various Pernambucan cities, the group aims to expand its circulation to other Brazilian states in 2026. Admission to the event is free, with tickets available via the Sympla platform or in physical format.
