Orquestra Ouro Preto and Afrosinfônica host free concerts in Brazil

The Orquestra Ouro Preto organized a free public event on Sunday, 2 May in Praça Tiradentes, Ouro Preto. Seven regional music bands participated as part of the NABVale2026 showcase, with sign language interpretation and support from the Museu da Inconfidência, the municipal government and Vale under the Rouanet cultural incentive law. The gathering aims to highlight the role of community bands in preserving cultural heritage and training new musicians.

In Salvador, the Orquestra Afrosinfônica performed on Tuesday, 4 May at the historic Igreja Nossa Senhora do Rosário dos Pretos to mark the 126th anniversary of the Irmandade do Rosário dos Pretos. Conducted by maestro Ubiratan Marques, the concert featured works from the orchestra’s catalog, including pieces from the Grammy‑Latino‑nominated album Orin, and reinterpretations of songs by Gilberto Gil and Baiana System. Open rehearsals have been held at the Casa da Ponte, fostering direct interaction between the musicians and the public.
