Orquestra Sinfônica da Paraíba Jovem celebrates Cuité's 258th anniversary with free concert

The Orquestra Sinfônica da Paraíba – Jovem performed a commemorative concert for the 258th anniversary of Cuité, a city in the Curimataú region of Paraíba, Brazil. The concert took place on Wednesday, 22 July, at 18:00 in the Igreja de Nossa Senhora das Mercês and admission was free.

Conducted by Maestro Luiz Carlos Durier, the program blended classical and popular works, opening with Prokofiev’s “March, Op. 9” (adapted by Alexander Gagarinov). The repertoire also featured pieces by Rimsky‑Korsakov, Ketelbey, Godard, Strauss, Luiz Gonzaga and others, aiming to engage the audience through rhythmic clapping and occasional singing. Municipal Secretary of Culture Ismael Moura highlighted the event’s role in strengthening local culture and providing an interactive musical experience for residents and visitors alike.
