Orsara di Puglia to host historical parade of Calatrava knights

Orsara di Puglia will host a historical parade featuring approximately 150 participants, including musicians, flag throwers, and reenactors portraying Calatrava knights and monks. Scheduled for Wednesday, August 19, at 17:30, the event commemorates the era of the Prioria di Bamba, tracing back to 1146 when the region established historical ties with Spain.

The procession will depart from the Sant’Angelo Abbey in Largo San Michele and conclude in Corso della Vittoria. Participants will wear meticulously reconstructed period costumes.

This event is part of a broader summer program in Orsara. Other upcoming activities include the 39th GEO-Festa del Vino running until September 5, a tribute concert by the Orchestra del Sud on August 22, and an awards ceremony at Palazzo De Gregorio on August 25 to honor local excellence in sports, culture, and entrepreneurship.
