Orschweier Celebrates 800th Anniversary with Two‑Day Festival in Baden‑Württemberg

The German village of Orschweier marked its 800th anniversary on 30 April and 1 May with a two‑day celebration featuring live music, exhibitions and a range of attractions. The programme, organized by a dedicated working group, includes a ceremonial barrel tapping, an after‑work gathering, and performances by the local band Just Lucky and the music ensemble Pretty Acoustic. A children’s choir, school groups, a line‑dance troupe and the local folk society also take the stage.

Visitors can explore exhibitions on the village’s history, old postcards and the historic “Ettenheimer Bähnle” railway line that once ran through the area. Food stalls offer regional specialties such as Badische burgers, Maultaschen, Spätzle and Flammkuchen, while the community hopes for good weather to enjoy the festivities.
