Orsolya Áder denies allegations of state-funded art career
A controversy has emerged regarding Orsolya Áder, the daughter of former Hungarian President János Áder, concerning allegations of state-funded support for her artistic career. Reports indicate that the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade provided significant financial assistance for her exhibitions, totaling approximately 4.5 million forints across at least four occasions, including events in Shanghai and Cluj-Napoca.
Furthermore, the Ministry confirmed that former Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó personally intervened to facilitate the issuance of diplomatic passports for Áder, who has held them on two separate occasions. This allowed her to travel internationally for her work as a painter, known as Mulan.
Orsolya Áder has denied all allegations of improper state funding, labeling the claims as “lies.” She stated that she and the organizers of her 52 exhibitions across seven countries provided the necessary financial and infrastructural backing. She noted that diplomatic staff occasionally attended her events as guests but did not organize them, and she has threatened legal action against those spreading what she describes as false information.
