Orson Welles’ ‘The Trial’ arrives in Polish cinemas after 64 years

Orson Welles’ film ‘The Trial’, based on the novel by Franz Kafka, is arriving in Polish cinemas 64 years after its world premiere. The film, which was never widely distributed in Poland, is described as a highly personal work for Welles, serving as a reflection of his own frustrations with Hollywood.

Unlike other adaptations of Kafka’s work, such as those by Steven Soderbergh or the screenplay by Harold Pinter, Welles’ 1962 version is noted for its unique, surrealist approach. The story follows Josef K., played by Anthony Perkins, as he navigates a labyrinthine and disorienting legal accusation.
