Orta Anadolu textile manufacturer closes Kayseri facilities

Orta Anadolu Ticaret ve Sanayi İşletmesi T. A. Ş., a prominent textile manufacturer founded in 1953, has permanently closed its production facilities in Kayseri, Turkey. The closure, effective October 12, 2026, follows a production halt that began on September 11.

Since 1986, the company has been a major global supplier of denim fabric to international brands, including Levi's, Mavi, Lee, Wrangler, Diesel, Replay, and Guess. Management cited several economic factors for the decision, including shrinking global demand, rising operational and financing costs, supply chain fluctuations, and intense international competition.

The closure affects approximately 1,400 employees, whose employment contracts are set to terminate on the closing date. The company has announced that severance pay, notice pay, and other legal entitlements will be paid to workers in a single lump sum by November 7, 2026. Additionally, management is reportedly preparing a social support package for employees and their families.
