Orta Anadolu closes 73-year-old textile operations in Kayseri

Orta Anadolu Ticaret ve Sanayi İşletmesi T. A. Ş., a prominent Turkish textile company, has announced the closure of its production facilities in Kayseri after 73 years of operation. The company ceased production on September 11, 2026, and completed the full closure of its facilities by September 12, 2026.

Since 1986, the company has been a major global supplier of premium denim fabric to many of the world’s most iconic brands. In its official statement, the company cited several factors for the decision, including weakening global demand, rising operational and financing costs, supply chain fluctuations, and changing trade dynamics. Despite efforts to implement cost-cutting measures, increase efficiency, and explore restructuring options, the company concluded that its current operational model was no longer sustainable under existing economic conditions.

Journalist Fatih Altaylı noted the significance of the closure, highlighting that the company was not just a major player in Turkey, but one of the most important denim producers globally.
