Orta Anadolu to close Kayseri textile facilities after 73 years

Orta Anadolu Ticaret ve Sanayi İşletmesi TAŞ, a major textile company established in 1953, has announced the closure of its production facilities in Kayseri, Turkey. Production activities were suspended on September 11, 2026, with all facilities scheduled to be fully closed by October 12, 2026.

The company has been a significant denim fabric supplier for over 300 global brands, including Levi’s, Mavi, Lee, Wrangler, Diesel, Replay, Guess, Mustang, Super Rifle, and Miss Sixty. Its operations covered various stages of production, from yarn and indigo dyeing to weaving and finishing.

Management cited challenging global economic conditions as the primary reason for the decision. Key factors include declining global demand, rising operational and financing costs, supply chain fluctuations, and changing trade dynamics. The company stated that its current operational model is no longer sustainable under these economic pressures, despite efforts to increase efficiency and restructure operations.
