Ortahisar Municipality budget and performance spark political dispute in Trabzon

Political leaders in Trabzon's Ortahisar district are engaged in a dispute regarding the budget and service performance of the Ortahisar Municipality.

AK Party Ortahisar District Chairman Dr. Seyit Hisoğlu criticized the current administration, alleging that only 40 kilometers of planned 80-kilometer roadwork has been completed. He further questioned why only 150 million TL of the 450 million TL allocated to the Department of Science Affairs has been spent, calling for more efficient use of resources. Hisoğlu contrasted current performance with the extensive infrastructure and social projects completed during the 2014-2024 term.

In response, Yeni Parti Ortahisar District Chairman Haluk Batmaz dismissed the allegations as political provocation and perception games. Batmaz argued that the municipality's funds are being spent on the public rather than on luxury or waste. He accused the AK Party of attempting to hinder Mayor Ahmet Kaya's services due to economic pressures and criticized Hisoğlu for a lack of political experience and local knowledge.
