Ortahisar Municipality replaces trash containers with high-capacity systems

Ortahisar Municipality has launched a project to replace old-style trash containers with modern, high-capacity above-ground systems. The initiative aims to minimize visual pollution, odors, and noise during waste collection processes.

The new containers feature a 3,750-liter capacity, which is five times larger than the previous 770-liter models. This increased volume allows for more efficient waste collection at single points and reduces the occupation of sidewalks and roads. The new units are equipped with foot pedals for hygienic, touchless access and self-closing lids to contain smells.

Çukurçayır Neighborhood has been selected as the pilot area for this rollout. Mayor Ahmet Kaya has requested that residents dispose of their waste using sealed bags specifically between the hours of 19:00 and 20:00 to support the new system.
