Orthodox Calendar commemorates Saint Eudokim and other figures

The Orthodox calendar commemorates several religious figures today, including Saint Eudokim, Saint Joseph of Arimathea, Saint Julita of Cappadocia, and Priest-martyr Veniamin.

Saint Eudokim, born in Cappadocia to Vasily and Eudokia, served as a young officer during the reign of Emperor Theophilus. Known for his piety and adherence to Gospel commandments, he eventually served as a dux of Cappadocia. He passed away at the age of thirty-three. His remains were reportedly found incorrupt after nineteen months, and his relics were later moved to Constantinople to be buried in the Church of the Virgin Mary.

Saint Joseph of Arimathea, a wealthy member of the Jewish Sanhedrin and a follower of Christ, is noted for removing the body of Christ from the cross and placing it in his own tomb. Saint Julita is recognized as a martyr from Caesarea in Cappadocia, who faced legal persecution due to her Christian faith.
