Orthodox Christianity in Poland and its theological foundations

Orthodox Christianity in Poland is represented primarily by the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church, a self-governing body that remains part of the global Orthodox communion. While most deeply rooted in eastern regions like Podlasie, the faith is also present in major cities such as Warsaw, Łódź, Wrocław, Kraków, and Gdańsk.

The Orthodox faith is characterized by its adherence to apostolic Christianity through Holy Scripture, Church Tradition, and the teachings of the Church Fathers. A central theological concept is 'theosis' (deification), which refers to the transformation of humans through grace and union with God while maintaining their human nature.

Religious life is centered on the Divine Liturgy, sacramental life, and a liturgical calendar of feasts and fasts. The faith is deeply communal, emphasizing participation in the life of the Church through parishes, monasteries, and liturgical gatherings.
