Orthodox Church commemorates Holy Belt of the Virgin Mary and various saints

The Orthodox Church observes several significant religious commemorations on September 13. One major feast is the Placing of the Holy Belt of the Mother of God. According to tradition, the belt was given to the Apostle Thomas and later kept in Constantinople. A historical miracle is associated with Empress Zoe, who was reportedly healed after the belt was placed upon her. A significant portion of this relic is preserved at the Vatopedi Monastery on Mount Athos, and historical ties link the relic to the Serbian Prince Lazar.

Additionally, the church honors the memory of Saint Cornelius the Centurion and Saint Aristides the Athenian. Saint Cornelius, a Roman centurion, is remembered for his conversion to Christianity and his missionary work in regions such as Cyprus and Antioch. Saint Aristides, a philosopher from Athens, is commemorated for his defense of the Christian faith during the 2nd century under Emperor Hadrian.
