Orthodox Church commemorates Saints Dorotheus and Elizabeth on June 5, 2026

On 5 June 2026 the Orthodox liturgical calendar marks the feast of two saints. The early‑century martyr Saint Dorotheus, bishop of Tyre, is remembered for his steadfast faith during the Roman persecutions under emperors Diocletian, Licinius and Julian, and for his theological writings in Greek and Latin.

The same day also honors Saint Elizabeth of Pasărea, a contemporary Romanian nun born in 1970 who was canonised by the Romanian Orthodox Church on 1 July 2025. Known for her humility, prayer and monastic life, she is celebrated as one of the newest saints in the Romanian tradition.
