Orthodox Church commemorates saints on June 4 and June 5

On Thursday, 4 June, the Orthodox Church honors Saints Martha and Mary, the sisters of Lazarus, and Saint Metrophanes, the first bishop of Constantinople. The saints are celebrated for their hospitality, faith and early leadership of the church.

The following day, Friday, 5 June, the church commemorates Saint Dorotheus of Tyre, Saint Plutarch, and the Ten Martyrs of Egypt, along with several other named saints. The date also coincides with the global observance of World Environment Day.

Both observances are noted in Greek‑language calendars for Cyprus and Greece.
