Orthodox Feast of Peter and Paul Marked in South Africa and Greece

On June 29, 2026 the Orthodox Church commemorated the apostles Peter and Paul in two locations. In South Africa, the Holy Metropolis of Naoussa held a two‑day celebration at the newly built Holy Temple of Peter and Paul. Metropolitan Ierotheos led the services, praised the apostles’ teachings and urged the faithful to follow Christ’s example. Clergy from the local deaneries assisted in the liturgies and in the closing evening service at the newly inaugurated Temple of the Twelve Apostles.

In Athens, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Chalkida celebrated the Divine Liturgy at St. Paul’s Church on Svaron Street, joined by Metropolitans Nikolaos of Mesogaia, Florinos of Preveza and others. Their sermons highlighted the apostolic mission of the Church in the 21st century, calling for steadfast witness amid modern challenges and emphasizing the unity of faith rooted in the examples of Peter and Paul.
