Religious milestones and commemorations observed in Romania and Moldova

Various religious commemorations and milestones are being observed across Romania and Moldova. The Greco-Catholic Diocese of Oradea has announced a Jubilee Year for 2027 to mark its 250th anniversary, featuring religious ceremonies, a pilgrimage, and an international symposium titled ‘The Transylvanian School’ to discuss the Church's role in Romanian culture.

In the Orthodox tradition, several feast days are being observed, including the celebration of Saints Joachim and Anne, the parents of the Virgin Mary. This includes liturgical services at various locations such as Maglavit Monastery, Recea Monastery, and Dintr-un Lemn Monastery. Additionally, experts have confirmed the authenticity of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God at Nicula Monastery, identifying it as the original work by painter Luca of Iclod from 1694.

Local community milestones include the blessing of a new church foundation stone in Tureac and the celebration of 25 years of priestly service for Father Bogdan Herciu in Mircești. In Moldova, the Orthodox Church in the Bălți and Fălești Diocese held commemorative services at the home of founder Tudor Marjin.
