Orthodox religious milestones in Texas and Romania

In Austin, Texas, ten members of a single family were received into the Romanian Orthodox Church through the Holy Sacrament of Baptism at the Birth of the Mother of God Parish. The event followed over a year of catechesis, prayer, and study. The family reported feeling an immediate sense of familiarity upon entering an Orthodox church after years of exploring various Christian communities.

In Romania, the wooden church ‘Saints Archangels Michael and Gabriel’ at Măliniști Monastery is scheduled for consecration on October 1. Built in 1826, the structure is celebrating its 200th anniversary following restoration work. The service will be officiated by Bishop Ignatie of Husina, accompanied by a group of priests and deacons.
