Orthodox Saints Hariton the Confessor and Antim Ivireanul commemorated

The Orthodox Christian calendar commemorates several significant figures, including Saint Hariton the Confessor and Saint Antim Ivireanul.

Saint Hariton the Confessor, born in Iconium, was a devout Christian who faced severe persecution under Emperor Aurelian. After surviving torture and imprisonment, he lived as a hermit and founded several monasteries. He is noted for his ascetic life and reported miracles, such as providing water from a dry stone.

Saint Antim Ivireanul, born in Georgia in 1650, became a prominent cultural and religious figure in Wallachia under Prince Constantin Brâncoveanu. A polyglot and skilled artist, he managed printing presses and published 63 books in various languages, including Romanian and Greek. His life ended tragically when he was accused of conspiracy, exiled by the Ecumenical Patriarchate, and assassinated by Ottoman soldiers while en route to Mount Sinai.
