Orthodox Union announces new leadership structure and appointments

The Orthodox Union (OU) has announced a new leadership structure following the death of former executive vice president Rabbi Moshe Hauer. The organization is splitting the top leadership role into two distinct positions to better manage its operations and rabbinic mission.

Rabbi Shmuel Silber has been named executive vice president and will begin his role on November 2. Silber, who has led Baltimore’s Suburban Orthodox Congregation Toras Chaim for over 23 years, will focus on rabbinic work, public advocacy, and providing halachic guidance.

Rabbi Dr. Josh Joseph, who previously served as executive vice president and chief operating officer, will assume the newly created role of chief executive officer. Joseph will oversee management strategy, business operations, and the professionalization of all OU programs. Both Silber and Joseph will report directly to the OU Executive Committee.
