Ortona lifeguard rescues two youths from strong sea currents

A lifeguard from Angeli del Mare Rescue Italy, Cristian Vitullo, rescued two young people from strong currents at the Ripari di Giobbe beach in Ortona on September 3.

The incident occurred around 6:30 PM when the two individuals were being pulled away from the coast on inflatables. After attempting to return to shore, they were caught in a rip current and lost their grip on the inflatables. Vitullo performed a specialized safety maneuver to secure a panicked young woman before towing both individuals back to the shore.
