Ortona Port receives 45 million euro development plan
Mirco Carloni, President of the Central Adriatic Sea Port System Authority, met with Italian Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini in Ortona to discuss the 2027-2029 three-year operational plan.
Out of approximately 91 million euros allocated to the Abruzzo region, about 45 million euros are designated for the development of the Ortona port. The facility currently handles 1.1 million tons of goods annually and is attracting significant private investment in shipbuilding, renewable energy, and mechanical industries.
The strategic plan focuses on four pillars: infrastructure investments including dredging and quay upgrades, increased productivity through administrative facilitation, digitalization via the Single ZES structure, and sustainability through energy transition initiatives like cold ironing.
