Oruña to Host XIV Real Valle de Piélagos Kayak Regatta on August 1

The town of Oruña will host the 14th edition of the Real Valle de Piélagos kayak regatta on Saturday, August 1. The race, organized by the municipal kayaking school with support from the Cantabrian Kayak Federation, will start from the Oruña dock between 17:30 and 19:00.

Competitors can enter multiple age and skill categories, ranging from senior and veteran divisions to juvenile, cadet, and various youth groups. Distances vary by class: senior, veteran and cadet races cover 5 km, while younger categories race 1–3 km on corresponding circuits. The top three finishers in each category receive trophies, and senior winners (both men and women) are awarded cash prizes of €80, €60 and €40. Additional subsidies of €80 per team are available for Cantabrian clubs and €100 for teams from other regions, provided at least five paddlers participate.
